Americans Are Using More Of Mobile Internet Instead Of Broadbands – Reports Are Alarming


A shocking report published online has shown how the sales of Broadband has fallen in the US.

This has happened for the first time and has put Broadband only companies in a dilemma about their future.

The new Home Broadband report launched by the Pew Research Center has clearly stated that Americans are slowly shifting their internet usage preference from Broadband at homes to internet on mobile.

The graph showed a decline in sales by about 3% in two years. In 2013, 70% of the population were broadband only users. Now 67% of the population is using broadband connection only.

Another statistic for the mobile internet only users in this same report will be able to give you a clearer idea of the kind of change in progress.

The percentage of mobile internet only users in the US was just 8% in 2013, while in 2015, we are seeing a growth to 13%.

If we take a total of all the people in the US who are on both broadband and mobile internet in 2013, the percentage was 78% only. Now the percentage has risen to 80%.

In a feedback taken from the population to gauge the causes of this major shift in preferences, almost 33% found broadband connections expensive, while 10% were those who could not afford a computer and found mobiles easier to buy.

This feedback was a result of a survey conducted by Pew Research center involving more than 6000 American citizens in all adult age groups.

The surveys were conducted over a period of two years, from 2013 to 2015 and can be considered as fairly logical results.

There are citizens within the country who feel that it would be easier for them to find jobs if they could have broadband connections, but since broadband was more expensive, they are unable to use them.

Perhaps to tackle the competition, Broadband service providers should consider a revision of prices and ensure that the plans become affordable for all.

If something like this is not planned, then it is inevitable to see the end of broadband in at least 10 years from now, particularly from the home segment.

It nevertheless, does not change the fact that mobile internet will never really be a great choice for people in the corporate sectors and offices will continue using broadband connections.
