Many of the things we’ll write in the first part of this review have already been said by many “fanboys” in recent years, and we’ll talk about problems that have affected other games, not just Syndicate. Ubisoft, in our view, committed mistake after mistake in recent years, culminating with Assassin’s Creed Unity, considered by many the worst game of the series.
Syndicate is better than Unity, this is clear. It is better optimized, looks better, but does not solve all the problems that brought the series to this point. Even so, it is impossible not to give it a high rating. Before continuing if you have not played any of the titles and you want to try soon, it is worth mentioning that you could encounter some spoilers within the article
“You can die a hero or you live long enough you turn into the villain”. Assassin’s Creed ought to die with Ezio, but the people at Ubisoft said “no”. The series continued and was transported during the American Revolution. At the end of Assassin’s Creed III, however, Desmond dies. It was probably one of the most serious errors on the part of those who were busy writing the story, since it has given rise to questions that have not received any answers. Perhaps the most important are “what happened to Juno?” And “What will happen to our planet?”.
As you probably know, you can play Assassin’s Creed Syndicate choosing one of the twins Evie and Jacob Frye. Obviously, the two different characters and different modes of action: Jacob is impulsive and not afraid of confrontation, while Evie prefer to be silent, acting secretly.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – Pros
The environment is undoubtedly one of the most important points of the game. London in 1868 was an industrialized city, very different from previous locations where the game was held. Factories, railroads, crowded neighborhoods, however characterized the capital of the greatest empire on earth in those years. At first, the city does not seem very pleasant. The alleys full of mud and the smoking chimneys of the factories without a touch of elegance to the surroundings, but over time, you get used to the city and discover its hidden beauties.
Due to the size, Ubisoft has implemented two interesting new items. One of these is the rope launcher with which you can navigate between buildings extremely easy. It also will be useful when you want to quickly climb walls. The second element is the carriage, the main means of transport in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. The carriages will be used not just to reach their destinations faster, but also to escape pursuers in some cases.
Fights are extremely successful as expected. Whether you’re fighting with one, two, three or four enemies, you will not notice any glitch during clashes. The movements are natural and simple while the controls ensure a pleasant experience. Depending on the skill-sites that you unlock, combos can hurt more, helping you to end the fight quickly. As for the graphics, we think there isn’t a point in talking about its exceptional quality, as we are accustomed by the developers.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – Cons
Lack of special missions, such as those carried out within historical buildings, it seems a minus for the game. In the past, you could explore various historical buildings such as Mosque Sophia in Constantinople, in missions that will bring side better armor or special weapons.
The characters, as I said earlier, there are built in an ideal way. The brothers are assassins to begin with. We do not see how they became thugs, who have lost people close or how their personalities have changed over time. Instead, we’ve noticed how Ubisoft has created villains, often stressing their negative influence on the city and preparing the players for the confrontation with Starrick.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – Conclusion
There is more work until the series will reach the level of popularity it had in the past. But after Unity, we can only observe that Syndicate is a step forward. Characters with their flaws and qualities are better than in the previous game, the story is interesting, and the gameplay, superior in every aspect. There is not the most successful Assassin’s Creed game, but we think it is the best of them since Revelations.
