Zenfone 3 Laser and Zenfone 3 Zoom Receive Android 8.0

Just like Asus promised, Zenfone 3 Laser and Zenfone 3 Zoom were among the first of its devices to receive Android 8.0 Oreo. The update’s OTA (over the air) roll out was initially postponed because of some unexpected issues but Asus’s official Malaysia Twitter account confirmed that the update will still be rolled out despite the delay.

The update is being rolled out systematically which means that not all Zenfone 3 Laser and Zenfone 3 Zoom devices are going to receive it at the same time.

Asus will roll out the update to 10,000 random devices every day until all of them received. Moreover, Asus approximates that all Zenfone 3 Laser and Zenfone 3 Zoom smartphones will be running on Android 8.0 Oreo before June ends.

Why Asus Postponed Android 8.0 Oreo

The Zenfone community started getting worried that Android 8.0 Oreo is not going to arrive to their smartphones after seeing that the new operating system was postponed. Seeing this, Asus decided to shed some light on this matter by telling everyone what issues it needed to fix.

The issues that Asus needed to fix before being to roll out Android 8.0 Oreo are directly related to its Zen UI (user interface). Asus wants to make sure that there are no duplicate apps and it postponed the update for a couple of hours in order to make sure that it eliminated them.
