The newest BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense trailer has finally confirmed that the second season of the popular anime series will be released in January 2023!
As it appears, the second installment of the story will have Maple and Sally taking on game bugs, large monsters and dealing with new friendships along the way.
The release was seemingly delayed since back on January 9 of last year, which also marked the anniversary of the anime’s first ever TV broadcast, it was announced that the second season would come out sometime in 2022.
Naturally, this is no longer going to happen but at this point, no official explanation for the push back has been shared.
It is known, however, that anime productions take a lot of work and dedication so they are scheduled out years in advance.
This means that many anime studios are overbooked as it is, focusing on other sequels and original stories all the time so this might be why the second season did not come out this year as promised in 2021.
It’s also not out of the realm of possibility that the COVID-19 pandemic played a role in the delay as well.
Maybe the scheduling ended up conflicting with other projects or the production team felt like they needed more time to do the story and animation the justice it deserves.
Previously, the renewal for another season was announced at the end of episode 12 in the original season.
The exact date of the release is yet to be announced, Silver Link having only confirmed that we’ll have it in January of 2023 as per the latest news.
Fans are obviously looking forward to more updates but unfortunately, they have to wait a little longer to find out all the details.
BOFURI is an anime adaptation of the Itai no wa Iya nano de Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu light novel series, written by Yuumikan and illustrated by Koin and as of August 10 of this year, the adaptation has managed to cover up to Volume 14.
