It comes as no surprise to anyone that problems happen all the time with all kinds of software, including internet browsers. Thankfully, there are multiple ways to solve some of the more common ones. In this article we will be telling you how to fix the most common problems of the Opera browser in particular.
Now, as with any software, the Opera browser will possibly encounter some issues.
Opera might refuse to load pages due to an error. It might apply to certain websites or to all of them. Additionally, it might instead decide to freeze and/or crash, but we may have something for that.
Users have reported it not working properly or at all on Windows 10. This can be quite a conundrum, but we are here to help!
Reinstall the latest version of Opera
If Opera is not responding, you can try completely uninstalling your browser and then reinstalling it with the latest updates from the official website.
Users report that the issue was fixed after updating to the latest Opera version, so make sure you have that on your device, too.
What you can also try is disabling problematic extensions by navigating to Menu → Extensions → Extensions. Disable each one until your issue is fixed, then re-enable the ones you absolutely need.
Disable your antivirus
Sometimes the browser might stop working because of your antivirus software.
You can try disabling any anti-malware solution you have (Windows Defender included!). Then check if the issue still persists.
Apparently, after doing so, also restarting Windows Explorer seems to sometimes fix it. In order to do that, follow these instructions:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc; that will open your Task Manager;
- Locate the ‘Windows Explorer’ process;
- Right click on it, and choose ‘Restart’.
Afterwards, re-enable your antivirus and the problems should go away.
If the problem is the antivirus itself, though, you can try using a whole another anti-malware solution altogether! But that grants a whole other article for itself..
