Fortnite Battle Royale Dubbed As “Addictive” And “Damaging” By The UK News Publications

Fortnite was the theme of a number of negative news reports in the UK press, which called it “addictive” and “damaging”. A few news articles also relate to the latest comments made by the Culture Secretary Matt Hancock and have connected those comments to the Battle Royale game.

In a quote from The Daily Telegraph via Eurogamer, Hancock said he had a few words to share with the kids who enjoy spending a lot of time on social media or playing video games.

“Too much screen time could have a detrimental impact on our children’s lives. Whether it’s social media or video games, kids should enjoy them safely and as part of a lifestyle that includes exercise and socializing in the real world,” is the comment made by Matt Hancock and linked by Daily Telegraph to the Fortnite Battle Royale game.

More and more UK publications call Fortnite “addictive” and “damaging”

Additional UK news publications added to the “Fortnite” campaign, as reported by Green Man Gaming. The Daily Mail, one of these, featured a report called “Addictive online shooting games like Fortnite have a’damaging impact’ on children’s lives, warns the Secretary of Culture”.

The Sun, meanwhile, featured a news article about “Fortnite Monsters,” a story about how “mothers are paying the bill for the highly addictive online game Fortnite Battle Royale,” pointing out that one of the game’s popular characteristics is the dance that in-game heroes can perform following a kill.

“Less popular for some parents is that although the game itself is free, you can shell out for add-ons like extra weapons, new outfits, or extra dance moves – leaving them hundreds of pounds out of pocket,” reports The Sun.
