Get WhatsApp for Android Tablets with This Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Considering the fact that WhatsApp has been downloaded for more than 65 million times only on Android smartphones, we think its safe to assume that everyone knows what this app does. Even though WhatsApp holds the title of being the most popular and most successful communication app in the world, there’s still a downside to it.

Smartphone Only

The downside to WhatsApp is that its been developed to only work on smartphones. While this might not a big issue for most people, it can get quite annoying for people who enjoy using their tablets. Also, most tablets don’t support SIM cards and being able to use WhatsApp instead would be great.

Luckily, there is a workaround that’s going to allow you to install WhatsApp on your tablet. With that being said, today we are going to present readers with a step-by-step guide on how to install WhatsApp on their tablet and enjoy all the services that the app has to offer.

Installing WhatsApp on a Tablet

First off, we need to mention that this workaround is not available for iOS powered tablets. The reason behind this being that in order to access WhatsApp through a tablet, people need to sideload it first and this is possible only on Android tablets. Nonetheless, here is to how to sideload WhatsApp on an Android tablet:

The first thing that users need to do is to open their Settings panel, head over to Security and enable the “Unknown Sources” feature. What this feature does is that it allows users to install apps that don’t are not downloaded from Google Play. This is a security measure that’s enabled by default.

Moving on, users now need to open their mobile browser and google for “WhatsApp APK”. There are many reliable sources and “Androidapks” is one of them. Nonetheless. Users need to scroll down on the website and pick the latest version of WhatsApp APK that is available and download it.

After the latest version of WhatsApp APK is downloaded, users need to pull down the notification bar and select the notification text which says that the APK has finished downloading. From here on, follow the text prompts that the installation wizard presents.

The first prompt will say “welcome to WhatsApp” and list the ToS where users need to agree. A pop-up which says the APK is not supported by tablets will appear, but it goes away after clicking “Ok”. The installation wizard will now ask users for their country of residence and for their valid phone number that isn’t used by any other active WhatsApp account.

After filling in the personal information, WhatsApp is going to send a text message to the phone number that was previously introduced. If the SIM is inserted in the tablet, then the installation wizard will automatically detect the message and fill in the activation code.

If the SIM is not introduced, users can also choose the “Call Me” option instead. All that’s left now is to insert the activation code and enjoy using all the services and cool features that WhatsApp has to offer.

No Automatic Updates

Sideloading WhatsApp is going to make app function, but it won’t receive any new updates or features. The reason behind this being that WhatsApp is not supported on tablets and the developers don’t bother releasing updates for this platform. However, all the latest updates are released in form of APK and WhatsApp can always download and sideload them by following the previous steps.
