Sony’s Investor Relations Day 2018 released some extremely exciting news. Kodera announced that the number of God of War copies that have been sold exceeded 5 million in the month after the game’s launch.
The game managed to perform exquisitely for Sony and there have been sold more than 3.1 million copies all over the world in its first there days. This made the game the fastest selling PlayStation 4 exclusive for the company.
PlayStation Blog reported that the game sold over 3.1 million copies worldwide after three days available, from April 20-22. Sony Santa Monica Studio head Shannon Studstill shared a message celebrating the achievement.
“I would like to personally thank the millions of fans around the world who decided to embark on Kratos’ latest adventure with us,” Studstill stated.
“Your support is truly inspiring, and it’s a reason why we push ourselves every day to go beyond the boundaries of play.”
“I’d also like to thank our Creative Director, Cory Barlog, and Director of Product Development, Yumi Yang and our entire amazing team at Santa Monica Studio. The belief in the game’s vision and the passion for storytelling across the team is undeniable. We look forward to hearing more about how fans are creating new memories of their favorite God of War gameplay moments that will be remembered for a long time,” Studstill continued.
God of War was the best-selling game for April 2018
God of War was also the best selling game for April 2018 alongside the PS4 which gained the title of the best selling console for the month with sales at an all-time April high for any console since NPD began tracking the game software back in 1995.
God of War director, Cory Balrog, has even more games planned for the franchise.
Several key updates are coming to God of War soon, including Photo Mode and a controller option to remap Rage Mode.
