Google and Samsung are Partnering to Compete Against Apple’s iMessage

One of the biggest advantages to owning an iPhone is getting access to iMessages, and from the looks of it, Google and Samsung have teamed up in order to create a similar feature. Samsung and Google are Apple’s biggest competition and they don’t want to let Apple have an advantage. Therefore, Samsung and Google are teaming up to enhance the messaging experience that Android smartphones offer.

Google Product Management Director Speaks Out

“Today we’re sharing that we’re working with Samsung to offer an enhanced smartphone messaging experience, accelerating the industry initiative towards global Rich Communication Services (RCS) coverage and interoperability,” said Sanaz Ahari who is the Product Management Director for Google.

Sanaz Ahari then added the following statement: “This collaboration will ensure that Android Messages and Samsung Messages will work seamlessly together and with RCS messaging, enabling features like the ability to chat over Wi-Fi, create rich group chats, see typing indicators and read receipts, and share high-resolution photos and videos across platforms”.

Competing Against Apple

What we can take from this is that Android fans are scheduled to receive an enhanced messaging experience. This is great news for Android fans since iPhone owners have been able to express themselves much easier through texts and this was proving to be a big advantage.

What’s surprising is that Google and Samsung have stopped competing against each other in order to get the upper hand over Apple. This shows us just how much power Apple has over the smartphone industry and how everyone else is struggling to compete.

iPhone XS

We should mention that Apple revealed iPhone XS for the first time yesterday. This might be the reason why Google and Samsung felt “forced” to team up and announce the news about the improved Android messaging experience.
