Even though people can use the internet in order to find any type of information that they need, we shouldn’t forget that the internet is not always a good place. There are lots of malicious software such as the infamous ransomware which serves the sole purpose of robbing people. This is why Google is focusing on enhancing the security of Chrome and it just did that again by releasing a new update. The new update is enhancing the password checkup feature for the browser.

Google Chrome Password Checkup Improvements

The Android parent has introduced a new update that is making it possible to alert Chrome browser users of weak or compromised passwords. The awesome thing about this feature is the fact that it checks in real time as Chrome users are visiting a password protected website.

Weak passwords are going to trigger a red dialogue box that is going to inform the users that they need to take action in order to better protect their account.

We want to mention that this is not the first time that Chrome users have had access to this feature. The enhanced password checkup was previously available via a special extension called “Password Checkup”. Fortunately, the extension is being integrated directly into Google Accounts.

Google Product Manager Speaks Out

“Until passwords become a thing of the past (trust us, we’re working on it), there’s a simple and secure solution: use a password manager, like the one built into your Google Account and Google Chrome,” said Andreas Tuerk who is the product manager for Google’s Password Manager. “It generates strong, unique passwords for all your online accounts, auto-fills them as you sign in, and helps keep them safe in a central place,” added the Google executive.
