All about the sequel
The sequel to the first Jumanji film (1995) is to be released on the 20th of December, 2017. The sequel is directed by Jake Kasdan and the first trailer has been released by Sony.
What does the trailer reveal?
Just like the first film, a group of kids happens to find an old video game. However, the sequel comes with a new development: not only do the characters find themselves transferred into a tropical world full of dangers, but they are also trapped into the bodies of their chosen characters. The main characters are similar with the ones in the board game: Welcome to the Jungle.
The actors to play the leads are: Alex Wolf (Spencer), Ser’Darius Blain (Fridge), Madison Iseman (Bethany) and Morgan Turner (Martha). The film producer is Matt Tolmach and he describes it as a new Jumanji adventure, only it has a new group of people and other different ideas.
The key concept of the sequel
As many fans have realized while reading this article, the new concept is the body-swapping happening. The main characters will inhabit the body of their avatars: Spencer will be Dwayne Johnson’s Dr. Smolder Bravestone; Fridge, the football player will inhabit the body of Franklin “Moose” Finbar; Martha will inhabit Ruby Roundhouse’s body (a character similar with Lara Croft) and Bethany will inhabit the body of Jack Black’s Professor Shelly Oberon.
How does this concept affect the main leads?
The body-swapping idea is definitely a challenge for the actors: John has to play a video-game “nerd” high school boy, while Black has to act as a teenage girl. An important figure encountered by the main leads during the film is Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough, character played by Nick Jonas.
The American 3D fantasy comedy adventure film already has anxious fans.
