Microsoft has been a company which has been surrounded with various updates and upgrades over the recent years, and one of the apps which has been making the most noise is that of Skype, their popular video and voice calling application.
For the past several decades, Microsoft has been monitoring the markets with an eagle-eye. The company knows when and where the next big updates are coming from.
The company has been coming out with a large number of releases, and has been concentrating equally on each division. Skype is one priority for Microsoft off late.
Skype has seen several changes happen to it in recent years, and 2016 marks 10 years since Skype first started off with their video calling features.
Skype’s video calling service has now been around for a very long time, and the company has come out with several new updates. Here’s a summary:
- Group Video Calling For All:
Skype has now introduced free group video calling services for all their users. The company has now said that all the users of their service will now get to enjoy the benefits of their group video calling technology, which was earlier limited to the business users. However, the latest update that is yet to arrive will now bring group video calling to all Android, iOS and Windows 10 Mobile users for free of cost.
- Skype Call Scheduling on Outlook for Android and iOS:
Another major update from Outlook integrates Skype’s call scheduling feature on the Android and iOS platforms. Users can set up a call any time, and as soon as the clock hits the time, users will be mailed a link to the call, clicking on which will open up the Skype app, and for the users who do not have Skype will be able to access it via the Skype for Web app. This is an interesting feature that will help businesses schedule better.
- Real Time Text and Translation
Windows users of Skype will now get access to the real-time translation technology. This has been something which was released for the mobile users six months ago. The translations are done in association with the Microsoft translator app, and the users will now be able to communicate across borders with more ease than ever before. Seven languages are supported on voice, and fifty on text.
