Microsoft Failed To Meet Demands For Elite Controllers For Xbox One – Product Market Underestimated

Back in the early days of 2015, around the time when the E3 was held, Microsoft had launched the Elite controller for Xbox.

The device was priced at about $150 and almost every source had got back to Microsoft stating that the controller was way too expensive for the users to invest in.

Such reports caused Microsoft to manufacture only a very limited number devices for sale, as they were pretty sure that market feedback they gathered would prove right.

But what is generally gathered from the market isn’t always correct; for Microsoft it proved to be a wrong indication of how much inventory they were supposed to manufacture.

Chris Capossela, Microsoft’s chief marketing officer admitted that the company had ‘underestimated the demand’ for the product.

This was solely because since its launch in June, the company had only received hints of how the product would not sell because of its high price.

In this regards, it was very clear that the company was mentally prepared to receive a slumped demand, hence manufactured limited units only.

A surprising turn of events came into picture when around Black Friday, Microsoft started receiving demands from the various retailers asking them to provide more units owing to more demand.

This surge in consumer desire was not really anticipated; hence the shortage of products.

As of now, there are lot of users who are still awaiting an Elite controller to be available.

There is a major paucity of products at almost all leading online stores., Amazon, BestBuy.com, Ebay, GameStop.com, and Target.com are all currently awaiting supplies. Chris Capossela is of the view that he would probably have urged the company to manufacture more than what was done at this stage.

We’d understand your frustration if you said how terrible you felt without this device at hand, but there isn’t really anything that you can do about it, rather than wait it out.

If it is of any help to know that you are not the only one who is waiting for the device to come in, then you’d be really glad that a good number is on the same page as you are at the moment.

Microsoft is hard at work and there is a good chance that the company will release the hardware soon.

There is one way to go about it however – you can buy bundled products with Halo 5: Guardians for $200 available at Gamestop.

The second bundle is a combination of Xbox One console, Elite controller and 1TB drive for $499.
