The latest Microsoft mobile products were launched. If you are a fan of the Lumia series, you will like for sure the two new devices, Lumia 950 and 950XL.
Microsoft Lumia 950 is backed by Qualcomm 808 processor and 950XL takes advantage of the Snapdragon 810. Another difference is the screen size. Lumia 950 has a 5.2 inch screen and the 950XL has a screen of 5.7 inch, because that’s XL means. As it was supposed to be, a larger screen demands a larger battery, Lumia 950XL is equipped with 3340 mAh battery, and its smaller brother has a 3000 mAh battery. Both of them are using the new USB C type that provides faster charging and data transfer.
What the two new Lumia phones share in terms of hardware, is an internal memory of 32GB which can be expanded through card slot, 3GB of RAM, wireless charging, a front 5 megapixel camera and a main camera of 20 MP. It also offers some quite interesting new features. Among those we mention Windows Hello, which provides biometric authentication by scanning the iris of the eye. It remains to be seen how reliable this method of unlocking your phone is. If you need to scan your eyes five times to unlock the phone when you’re in a public space, it is better to give up.
Another interesting feature is Windows Continuum, which allows you to connect to a monitor via a special station. Office and Outlook applications will be scaled to the new monitor, and a mouse and keyboard can be added to make your work easier. Unfortunately, only these two applications currently work on a large screen. It remains to be seen whether Microsoft will approve in the future any other applications.
Microsoft 950XL Lumia will be sold for 649 dollars in shops.
