Microsoft has been one of the most experienced players in the markets of technology. The company has been around for quite a long while and has been an exceptionally well received name in the world of software technology, and especially in the markets of operating systems.

The company has, however, been facing testing times in the markets of hardware technology, which they have recently started exploring. Microsoft has been tapping the hardware markets off late, and have been doing it quite slowly.

The company is making slow strides hoping for a progress, but have been going through a really bad time in the markets of hardware technology.

The company has been suffering major losses and pitfalls in the hardware business, and Steve Ballmer, the former CEO of the company has now commented on the issue stating that they need to rethink their mobile and hardware strategies if they wish to stay afloat in the markets for long.

Steve Ballmer has also commented that their Surface, Hololens and XBOX devices are “absolutely essential” if they wish to do well in the markets.

He was rather critical when addressing the mobile phones division – “And the company really has to chart a direction in mobile devices. Because if you’re going to be mobile-first, cloud-first you really do need to have a sense of what you’re doing in mobile devices. I had put the company on a path.

The board as I was leaving took the company on a path by buying Nokia, they kind of went ahead with that after I told them I was going to go. The company, between me and the board, had taken that sort of view. Satya, he’s certainly changed that. He needs to have a clear path forward. But I’m sure he’ll get there.”

However, he’s all praises for Satya Nadella.

The criticism for the Microsoft Mobiles is a constructive criticism, and it can be well assured that Ballmer has the company’s best interests in mind, as he is the largest individual shareholder of Microsoft. The company is indeed losing out big time in the markets of mobile phones.

Last year the mobile phone losses had amounted to over $8 Billion. It was later announced that the company had let go of 7800 employees over the losses. It has recently come to light that the mobile phone sales too, have fallen by over 50% in 2015.

The company indeed needs to rethink their strategies soon!
