Windows 10 mobile upgrades have already started rolling out but not to all – it has been provided only to those who had registered in the Windows Insider Program, wherein a preview version was provided to the people who opted in. Other devices were still waiting for the changes to come by.
However, the good news is that it has been finally been declared that all devices that are running on Windows 8.1 will be upgraded to the Windows 10 platform by the early days of 2016.
As of now, the only two devices in the mobile section that come with the Windows 10 are Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. The two devices saw a grand release recently in India and the United Arab Emirates.
The device that was released alongside them was the Surface Pro 4, another Windows 10 device, but in the tablet section. These devices are all superlative in their own ways and believe it or not, they make using the Windows Phone Platform a much better experience than before.
Windows 10 mobile devices that are currently running on the preview version of the OS have so far had a great experience, especially with Cortana and with Continuum.
Continuum is able to convert your phone into a desktop – who thought something like this would ever be possible? The continuum property of the OS will allow you to have a larger display connected to your phone, alongside a keyboard and a mouse and allow you to use the device as a desktop! Cortana weaves magic yet again by becoming smarter and even more alert than before.
She carefully studies your behavior and acts accordingly – sorts your news articles, delivers you your messages, reminds you of schedules in your calendar and even tells you of possible weather changes based on your location. Such features can only be seen on the Windows 10 and truly speaking, current Windows 8.1 users are missing it badly.
Granted, that the OS has its shares of bugs but which OS hasn’t? Is the latest version of iOS 9 perfect? Most users know that even iOS or Windows have had a jittery start and then moved towards perfection.
As of now, the list of phones that will get the Windows 10 update have been lined up already. They are 430, 435, 532, 535, 540, 635 (1GB RAM), 640, 640 XL, 735, 830 and 930.
The future of Windows phones that have just 4GB internal memory is pretty dicey as the OS is heavy and will need a lot of space to work. Perhaps down the line something might come up for such devices but as of now the future looks dark.
