OnePlus is already preparing new smartphones that will be launched in 2016 and they are already beginning to show some details. The first new device that the company will launch in the next year could even be a miniaturized version of OnePlus 2, which will be named “Mini”. The information can be found in the GFX Bench software test site database, where the technical specifications of the new smartphone can be seen.
Like other manufacturers, such as Apple and Sony, OnePlus is preparing to integrate its standard phone version’s hardware in a significantly smaller body. Both the iPhone 6 / 6S and Xperia Z5 Compact have their components nearly identical with the larger Xperia Z5 and iPhone 6 Plus versions, and OnePlus 2 Mini seems to do the same. However, unlike them, the display resolution will be lower.
According GFX Bench, OnePlus 2 Mini will integrate a 4.6″ Full HD resolution display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset clocked at 1.7 GHz. The listed RAM memory is 3.6 GB, but this value is sometimes displayed for devices with 4 GB. Also the 54 GB storage space available suggest that at least one model will come equipped with 64 GB of internal memory. OnePlus 2 Mini will use 12 and 5 megapixels cameras, but it comes without a NFC chip and also without a fingerprint sensor, unlike its bigger brother.
This model seems to be exactly what its name suggests: a compact version of the device, but as powerful as OnePlus 2, which will probably come at a slightly lower price. It is unclear when the Chinese company plans to announce the OnePlus 2 Mini, but since the phone is already in tests, it will not be long until we receive official information about it.
