Another year usually means another flagship smartphone device ready to wow the crowds. While some manufacturers bet heavily on the success of previous models, others sometimes decide that they needed something different to spark up interest and quality in their product. The latest device effort coming from Sony is names Xperia XZ and it appropriately dons the extension “Premium”.
While this is just something that the company can throw around for marketing purposes, the Xperia XZ truly embodies the elements that make a device of premium quality. In this article we are taking a look at what these elements are and how they do the new Sony phone justice.
The phone comes with a nice mix of things we’ve seen before and things we’ve not seen before. For example, it has a decently sized body and the front panel is dedicated to the screen, with little to no interferences. It has quite a visible upper and downer part, so it’s not a complete screen-covered front panel like the Galaxy S8 has. However it compensates through the quality of its frontal panel which is made out of glass.
As you can imagine this very beautiful to look at and the different combinations that you can get when the sun is up and you’re in a nice area are remarkable. Keep in mind however that if you detest fingerprints, this phone might not be for you. A front panel made entirely out of glass will attract a ton of fingerprints.
The device also moves the fingerprint sensor from its traditional frontal position to the side of the device. Here, it was slapped right on top of the power button which makes it extremely convenient and easy to use. The side of the device also hosts the volume keys above the power button.
When it comes to performance, this device has something to say. The Samsung Galaxy S8 called dibs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processors, but that device has been release for a bit now and the new Xperia XZ Premium is among the first smartphones to follow its lead and use the latest and greatest processing unit.
Other specifications for the device include 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The display measures 5.5 inches which means it’s going to be more than enough for most people even though a lot of phones are now pushing the standard to 6 inches.
It’s enough to see the gorgeous pictures you take with the 19 MP back camera or 13 MP front shooter which provide excellent photo and video quality with a lot of mods, presets and settings. In terms of OS it ships with Android 7.0 and to keep everything running, the phone features a 3230 mAh battery unit.
