World’s first known manta ray nursery found

Situated in The Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Texas in NOAA’s Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary, the juvenile manta ray habitat is the first of its kind to be clarified in a scientific research.

Joshua Stewart, a marine chemistry Ph.D. candidate in Scripps and direct Author of this analysis, observed that the juvenile mantas while conducting research on manta public structure at Flower Garden Banks, among 15 federally designated underwater regions shielded by the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries.
