Dragon Ball FighterZ (DBFZ) has proved to everyone that you can indeed have a competitive game even in a 2D environment. This was thought impossible at first, although some might argue that DBFZ is actually a 2.5D game.
It’s time to see a compelling tier list of the game’s fighters revealed by GamingScan.com, in case you’re wondering which one to choose in your next match. Of course, you could also take the tier list into account just for the sake of learning more about the game.
S-Tier
- Ultra Instinct Goku
- GT Goku
- Bardock
- Kid Buu
- Cell
- Adult Gohan
- Teen Gohan
It would have been absurd not to find some Goku in this tier. The Ultra Instinct technique of the beloved Saiyan makes him achieve his strongest form ever. The Goku from GT was arguably about as good as his Super Saiyan Blue form from Dragon Ball Super.
The real surprise here is Bardock, the father of Goku, who was light-years weaker than his son in the anime.
A-Tier
- Base Vegeta
- Android 21
- Vegito
- Vegeta
- Gotenks
- Super Baby 2
- Videl
- Goku
We were just wondering about when we will see Vegito in the tier list, so here he is. The merged form between Goku and Vegeta is just too powerful not to make it to a tier list like this one.
B-Tier
- Trunks
- Piccolo
- Kefla
- Master Roshi
- SS4 Gogeta
- Goku Black
- Fused Zamasu
- Android 16
- Goku (SSGSS)
- Broly
Goku Black is one of the most interesting characters in the whole franchise, and it’s nice to see him added here as well. He was initially thought to be some kind of evil version of Goku, but that assumption was wrong. Goku Black was just Zamasu who had stolen Goku’s body from another timeline.
C-Tier
- Super Broly
- Base Goku
- Hit
- Tien
- Jiren
- Yamcha
- Janemba
- Cooler
Surely you were expecting Jiren, Hit, or Super Broly to be located in the first tiers. But Dragon Ball games are notorious for being even more difficult to predict than the animes themselves. However, Yamcha’s addition to the roster is indeed funny.
D-Tier
- Frieza
- Android 18
- Beerus
- Majin Buu
- Captain Ginyu
- Blue Vegeta
Frieza was once considered the strongest fighter in the Universe, but here he is in the D-Tier. To see him alongside Beerus and Blue Vegeta is sure surprising, but Dragon Ball games work in mysterious ways. No, we’re kidding; it’s just how the fans voted.
Majin Buu represents another surprising addition, as he is the strongest villain from the legendary Dragon Ball Z anime.
Last but not least, we would have expected to see Blue Vegeta much higher in the ranks. The Super Saiyan Blue transformation was considered the pinnacle when it comes to godly powers when it was first introduced in Dragon Ball.
F-Tier
- Android 17
- Krillin
- Nappa
Krillin’s appearance here isn’t surprising at all, considering that the fighter who was once Goku’s rival and best friend has been seriously left behind by the rest of the Z warriors due to his weak power level. However, Krillin might still be the strongest Earthling in Dragon Ball, and his killer move known as Destructo Disc is feared by many powerful foes.
Seeing Android 17 in this tier is indeed another surprise, as he made a decisive appearance in the Tournament of Power from Dragon Ball Super.
Last but not least, it’s important to keep in mind that the power levels of the fighters from the animes don’t count decisively for this tier list. Other characteristics of the game itself are decisive, which is great. If Dragon Ball video games contained the power levels from the anime, the differences in power levels would have been way too much to handle.
