After leaving everyone to speculate for months, Samsung has finally announced its highly anticipated foldable smartphone called Galaxy F. This innovative device is priced at $2,000 and it is aimed at people who want a bigger screen but don’t like the idea of having to carry a tablet everywhere they go. Therefore, the new Galaxy F features a massive screen that can be folded in order to fit inside a pocket.

Samsung might be the first tech company to introduce a foldable smartphone, but it won’t be the last. Huawei and Xiaomi have already designed their own foldable smartphones and they are just waiting for the right time to reveal them. The only big smartphone manufacturer that seems to be left behind is Apple.

Apple is Working on a Foldable Smartphone

In typical Apple fashion, the Cupertino based tech giant hasn’t yet announced that it’s working on a foldable smartphone. However, we can be sure that this is happening because Apple has already registered a couple of patents for a foldable device and to make things even better, the folks at LetsGoDigital have created a render.

Bending Both Ways

The picture shown above is the render created by LetsGoDigital according to Apple’s patents and it shows us that the next-generation foldable iPhone can bend both ways. Apple once said that the ideal iPhone is going to look like a “simple sheet of glass” and the new foldable device is exactly that.

Expected Release Date

As previously mentioned, Apple has yet to confirm that it’s adding the finishing touches to the foldable device. However, this shouldn’t come as a surprise since Apple doesn’t like to let the smartphone industry its next step. Nonetheless, we should expect to reveal the device or at least a prototype in September when the new 2019 iPhones are scheduled to launch.
