We have previously reported that Blizzard has announced the official launch date of the much-anticipated patch 8.2 for its latest World of Warcraft expansion called Battle for Azeroth. The patch is scheduled to arrive tomorrow (June 25th) and it will introduce major gameplay changes that will bring a breath of fresh air to World of Warcraft such as the revamped Azerite system. While things might be looking great for World of Warcraft players, this doesn’t mean that all is good at Blizzard HQ.
Kim Phan is an important Blizzard executive and she has been the company’s global eSports director for the last 13 years. She has played an important role in the development of Blizzard’s eSports scene and unfortunately, she has recently announced that she has decided to quit her job.
Blizzard eSports Director Quits
“What a complete honor and privilege it has been to serve this amazing community. I will always remember the moments we created together, the blood, sweat, and tears we all poured in, and the late night hours we spent cheering on our favorite teams and players,” Phan wrote in a recent blog post.
“I have watched this industry grow through the support we’ve given one another: the strides we made when we lifted each other up rather than pulling each other down. I have enjoyed following the conversations in these forums, and in so many other venues where we have gathered both online and in person. I am a better person for having been a part of this amazing community, and will forever be grateful for it,” added Kim Phan.
Final Words
Kim Phan is not leaving Blizzard because of any problems, just because she wants to pursue a new path in her career. Let’s hope that Blizzard manages to find someone who can fill her role because as we all know, Blizzard’s eSports scene has not been doing that well in terms of viewership.
