Ever since Apex Legends was released, the Battle Royale game was dubbed as the “Fortnite Killer”. Truth be told, Apex Legends is in fact posing a big threat to Fortnite, especially when considering that more than 25 million players created accounts for Apex Legends in less than a week.

However, Fortnite is not going to simply fade away and let Apex Legends take over. Epic Games has released yesterday the Season 8 update and it brings lots of exciting skins, weapons and even a highly useful feature that is borrowed from Apex Legends.

The Season 8 Update

The new Season 8 update breathes life into Fortnite by adding lots of cool features to the game alongside a new Battle Pass. Fortnite players who have completed the Overtime Challenges during the last two weeks will receive the new Battle Pass and the skins it brings for free. Readers can find out more about the new skins that Season 8 introduces by clicking here. Nonetheless, the feature that stands out the most in the new update is the one borrowed from Apex Legends.

The Apex Legends Ping System

One of the best things about Apex Legends is the ping system that it offers. This system can be used by players in order to communicate important information with their teammates without ever having to open their microphone. Players love this feature and Epic Games has decided to “borrow” it.

New Fortnite Markers

Epic Games couldn’t simply rip off the ping system that Apex Legends uses and it decided to create a new one that is based on markers. From now on, Fortnite players will be able to place markers all over the map on things such as items and the markers will display the rarity of the items, similar to how the ping system works in Apex Legends.
