One of the things that separate Samsung from other tech companies is the fact that Samsung likes to do it all by itself. The South Korean tech giant manufacturers its own smartphones while other companies need to rely on ODMs. Well, a recent leak is showing us that Samsung is looking to change its company policy and that it has already employed a Chinese ODM known as Wingtech.
Samsung Employs Chinese ODM
Wingtech is a Chinese hardware manufacturer that is known to do business with Xiaomi and a recent leak shows us that a new smartphone with the SM-G6200 model number is being assembled by Wingtech.
SM-G6200 is Samsung’s new Galaxy A6 and its scheduled to launch next in China. In addition, Samsung might rebrand the smartphone when it decides to launch it internationally.
What Does This Mean for Samsung Fans?
The fact that Samsung decided to task Wingtech with producing its smartphone is not bad news by any means. In fact, the reason why Samsung is working with Wingtech is because it wants to lower the prices of its smartphones by reducing manufacturing costs through outsourcing manufacturing.
Samsung is Struggling China
Even though Samsung is one of the most popular and successful brands in the world when it comes to smartphones, the company’s Galaxy S lineup is struggling in China. Samsung has less than 1% of the smartphone market in China because companies such as Xiaomi and OnePlus are ruling the market there.
Nonetheless, now that Samsung has teamed up with Wingtech, we believe that Galaxy A6 will be more affordable than its counterparts which will launch in Europe and the US.
Galaxy A6 Overview
This new smartphone will fit in the mid-budget range and it will ship with a 5.99-inches full-screen display. Galaxy A6 is going to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 CPU and it will feature a 3,300 mAh battery.
