After one month of waiting, iPhone XR has finally hit the market and people can purchase it from their local Apple Store. Many people were wondering if iPhone XR will be able to compete against the more powerful iPhone XS and XS Max, and the answer to that question is yes. iPhone XR offers similar performances, the same sleek design and it comes at a much cheaper price.
On the downside of things, Apple has been hit with some bad news. Lewis Hilstenger who is also known as “Unbox Therapy” has spotted that Apple’s new iPhones add a “filter” when taking pictures. This makes people’s skin look smoother in selfies and while this is not necessarily a bad thing, Apple forgot to talk about this feature when presenting the new iPhones.
Apple is Adding “Filters” to Selfies
The fact that Apple’s new iPhones make people’s skin look smoother has gotten lots of Apple fans angry. They want their pictures to be natural and more importantly, they want to be able to disable this secret feature.
To make things even more interesting, Apple didn’t want to respond to the allegations made by Lewis Hilstenger and it didn’t release any statement regarding the selfie camera filter, until now.
Apple Finally Responds
Even though Apple has yet to release an official statement regarding the secret feature that its new iPhones ship with, the Cupertino tech giant did reveal to Nilay Patel who is the editor-in-chief at verge the following:
“Apple told me that the forthcoming iOS 12.1 update, currently in public beta, will address the issue of the front camera appearing to smooth out skin by picking a sharper base frame for Smart HDR, but I wasn’t able to test it yet.”
From the looks of it, Apple is ready to acknowledge that it tried to keep the selfie camera filter a secret and to give users the option to disable it.
