If you love using Google Drive, then we have some amazing news for you! The Android parent has started rolling out a new update for Google Drive which introduces the new “Material Theme” design. This design was implemented a while ago on Gmail and now, it has made its way to Google Drive. In addition, the new update is being rolled out OTA (over the air) to iOS devices today and Android users are going to receive it at the start of the next week.

Google Drive Update

As previously mentioned, the new update is going to arrive today via OTA channels to iOS powered devices. Therefore, we advise all iPhone owners who enjoy the features that Google Drive offers to keep their iPhones connected to a stable Wi-Fi network connection because the update should arrive any time now. Nonetheless, let’s check out everything there is to know about the new Material Theme design.

New Design

Usually, when an app receives a design update it means that the app’s pallet of colors has been improved. Well, this is not the case for the Material Theme design. This update does much more than to simply introduce a bunch of cool colors because it also introduces a new user interface layout. Google Drive will now feature four new sections and the “My Drive” view of folders has been relocated to the right side in the Files tab.

The Home, Starred and Shared are the three other new tabs which have been introduced by the new update. These tabs are also available in the main layout which makes it easier for Google Drive fans to use the app.

The update also introduces a new hamburger menu which can be used by fans in order to access the navigation drawer and the account switcher option which is placed in the top right corner.
