It’s been a little bit more than one month since Apex Legends launched and the game already has more than 50 million active players. Season 1 was supposed to get a new update last week, but this didn’t happen and many people including popular Twitch streamer Shroud believe that Respawn Entertainment didn’t know that Apex Legends is going to be such a massive hit and that the developer has pushed back the release date for the new update because it wants to introduce new and exciting features to keep the 50 million players entertained.

Datamined Apex Legends Character

Even though Respawn Entertainment didn’t to reveal any details about the upcoming Apex Legends update, we got lucky and a mistake on the Origin store made it possible for dataminers to find out that the new update will introduce new content and a new character! However, the developers in charge of Apex Legends were not too happy about this and they decided to release a statement about it.

Respawn Entertainment Responds to New Leaks

Jay Frechette is the community manager for Apex Legends and he recently made a new post on Reddit where he confirmed that the datamined character is going to arrive in the upcoming future. Jay Frechette confirmed that the new leak is caused by an “unintentional update about Season 1 on Origin today.

“There’s lots of stuff that has been datamined from Apex since launch and is swirling around the Internet,” Frechette said. “We know this stuff is fun to dig up and speculate about, but you should not treat any of that info as a source of truth. There’s stuff in there that is very old, or things we’ve tried in the past and cut–remember our design process is to prototype and play lots of ideas–and some of it may be things we’re still building for Apex Legends. Finding this stuff by no means confirms that it’ll ever come out. At best you should treat any posts about this as a rumor and the real info will come from us when we’re ready to show off what’s coming next,” added the community manager.
