Samsung announced that Galaxy S10 is going to launch in the first quarter of 2019 and the expectations bar is set high for this smartphone. Despite being a powerful smartphone, Galaxy S9 didn’t sell that well and Samsung promised its business investors that Galaxy S10 is going to break records. Therefore, the South Korean tech based giant is investing all its technology and resources in developing Galaxy S10.
With that said, it should come as no surprise that a new report from Asia is saying that Galaxy S10 will ship with a feature that can’t be found on any other smartphone. The feature that we are talking about is not the innovative looking Infinity-O display, but an in-display fingerprint scanner.
In-Display Fingerprint Scanner
Huawei might have already installed a fingerprint scanner in the display of its latest flagship smartphones, but the one developed by Samsung is different. The one used by Huawei requires a line of sight for the in-display fingerprint scanner to work and while this might not be an issue, Samsung has decided to take things to the next level and use ultrasonic technology.
The new in-display fingerprint scanner developed by Samsung will bounce sound waves off the microscopic ridges of the user’s finger so that it can get an accurate read of the fingerprint.
We should note that Apple has tried to develop a similar technology and it has even patented it. However, Apple failed to finalize the project and Samsung is one step ahead.
From the looks of it, Galaxy S10 is actually shaping up to become the “next-generation flagship smartphone” that Samsung promised it would be. Implementing ultrasonic technology is a step in the right direction from Samsung and we hope that Samsung will equip Galaxy S10 with more innovative features such as this one.
