Introducing support for 5G connectivity is the next “big” step in the evolution of smartphones and right now, the problem is that there aren’t that many chip manufacturers that create this kind of hardware parts. Well, it looks like things are about to change in the upcoming future because MediaTek has announced earlier today that its brand-new Dimensity 1000 SoC will support 5G technology. This MediaTek’s flagship SoC for 2019 and the early part of 2020.
MediaTek Announces Dimensity 1000
The first thing that we want to mention about MediaTek’s latest SoC is that the support for 5G technology doesn’t come as a surprise. The reason behind this is that MediaTek revealed back in May that it’s working on a next-gen SoC that will support 5G technology. In addition, the SoC will be equipped with the new Cortex-A77 and Mali-G77 IPs.
“We chose the name Dimensity to highlight how our 5G solutions are driving new waves of innovation and experiences, much like the fabled fifth dimension,” said MediaTek President Joe Chen about the re-branding of its flagship SoC line.
