Windows Phone was the first mobile operating system to be developed by Microsoft and the expectations were set really high. Everyone expected Windows Phone to become the “next Android”, but unfortunately, Windows Phone failed to meet the expectations. It didn’t take too long for Microsoft to notice that Windows Phone was a flop and it stopped focusing all its attention on it.

Although, some people still enjoyed the aspect and feel of Windows Phone and this is why Microsoft is offering a special launcher that Android fans can download and install on their smartphones. To make things even better, the launcher keeps receiving software updates and in fact, a brand-new has just arrived.

Microsoft Launcher v5.0 Beta Update Arrives

The latest update for Microsoft Launcher changes the software’s version number to v5.0 Beta and as the title implies, it’s targeted towards beta users. Therefore, the new update has yet to be rolled out OTA (over the air) to everyone and it will stay for at least a couple more days in the beta phase.

Nonetheless, enlisting in the beta program for Microsoft Launcher is super easy and the only thing that beta testers have to do in return for getting access to new features and software tweaks is to provide the developers with feedback.

What’s New?

The new update introduces Timeline. Microsoft has developed this feature for the sole purpose of making it possible for users to sync their recent activity between smartphone and Windows PCs.

The best thing about this new feature is that it enhances the Edge browser. The browser will now be able to display the user’s recent activity and it also features Office support. While Timeline might not be a groundbreaking feature by any means, it’s still an improvement that is nice to have.
