An Oppo executive announced yesterday that the company is getting ready to launch a new smartphone during the upcoming future. Even though the executive didn’t want to go into too much detail about the new smartphone, we got lucky and the device ended up on Weibo which is the Chinese version of Reddit. The new smartphone is called Oppo Reno and it is going to be a camera-centric device that will launch on April 10.

Introducing: Oppo Reno

The smartphone was initially teased during the Mobile World Congress event but now, we finally get to see in its full glory. The smartphone’s highlight feature is a three camera-setup that is mounted on the rear side. Fortunately, the new Weibo leak lists all details about the smartphone’s camera setup.

Camera-Centric Smartphone

Smartphones are becoming more and more camera-centric every year and there is no doubt about that. However, Oppo decided to take things to the next level with Oppo Reno and it equipped the smartphone with a triple camera-setup. The setup is made from a high-end 48MP IMX586 lens, an ultra-wide lens and a telephoto lens.

To make things even more impressive, the camera setup of Oppo Reno features dual OIS (optical image stabilization) and 10X optical zoom. From the looks of it, Oppo Reno is the ideal smartphone for people who like taking high quality pictures with their smartphones. We should also note that Oppo Reno will feature a rather big 16MP selfie shooter that is mounted on the front side.

In-Display Fingerprint Scanner

The Weibo leak also revealed that Oppo Reno is going to ditch the rear mounted fingerprint scanner and instead equip it inside the display. This is a cool feature and it definitely improves the security of Oppo Reno. Nonetheless, the smartphone is scheduled to launch on April 10 and that is when we will find out additional information about it.
