Snapchat is the only social media platform that presents a threat to Facebook and there’s a good reason behind that. Snapchat has been downloaded by tens of millions on both Android and iOS and the app is not for sale. However, the thing that sets Snapchat apart from all other social media platforms is the fact that the app is constantly adding new features such as lenses. In fact, a new update has recently arrived and it comes with a really cool feature called Lens Challenges.

Lens Challenges

Lens Challenges have been designed to increase the overall user engagement of Snapchat and it allows users to get into singing and dancing challenges with their friends. For example, the most popular challenge lets users sing along to Gwen Stefani’s famous “Jingle Bells” song.

This feature can be accessed from the Lens Explorer panel and the only thing that users need to do is to lip sync along with Gwen Stefani’s lyrics. Does this sound familiar? If it does, it’s because Tik Tok was the first app to do this.

Tik Tok Similar Feature

For those who are unfamiliar with Tik Tok, this app gives users a platform where they can lip sync or dance to their favorite songs and then share the video with millions of other people.

From the looks of it, Snapchat decided that it wants to “borrow” this idea. Although, no one can accuse Snapchat of “borrowing” ideas since Instagram has been copying Snapchat’s every move.

User Created Challenges

What’s great about Snapchat’s new Lens Challenges is that users are encouraged to create their own challenges. Snapchat is doing an amazing job of engaging the community and there’s no doubt about that.

We should note that Jye Trudinger who is Snapchat user has already created a new Snapchat challenge called “Disappear” where users need to take superimposing photos that make the subject disappear.
