Huawei made a bunch of interesting announcements today including Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro. One of the announcements that managed to get people’s interest the most is fact that Huawei wants to revolutionize expendable internal storage space by using Nano Memory (NM) cards instead of microSD. The new cards are currently exclusive to Huawei’s new Mate 20 Mate 20 Pro

Huawei Announces Revolutionary Nano Memory (NM) Cards

Huawei announced that its brand-new smartphones will stop using microSD cards. This is a big surprise that no one expected and to make things even better, Huawei is replacing microSD cards with its own NM technology. What makes the NM cards better than the classic microSD ones is the fact that they can be placed inside the SIM slot.

Faster and Better Memory

Most high-end smartphones already ship with dual-SIM support and the fact that Huawei’s NM cards can fit inside means that they are going to revolutionize the industry. Tech companies will no longer need to create a special port for microSD cards and this is going to give them more room for other features.

The simplicity of the NM cards is not the best thing about them. What makes the NM cards stand out from the rest is their fast speed. Huawei says that NM cards will feature a minimum of 256GB storage space and that they will transfer files at 90 MB/s.

Exclusive Huawei Feature

As we previously mentioned, the NM cards are currently exclusive to the new Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro. However, we can be sure that Huawei is planning to sell them to other tech companies as well because it doesn’t have any reason to.

The question that remains is if this is the end of the microSD era? Huawei stopped using them and other companies are surely going to follow.
