If you are wondering what is the “next big app” that is going launch, then you should know that Instagram is currently adding the finishing touches to it. The app is called Threads and according to a report from the Verge, the app is “meant to promote constant, intimate sharing between users and their closest friends”. With that said, today we are going to check out everything there is to know about Instagram’s new app and what we can expect from it.

Introducing: Threads

The first thing that we want to mention is that Instagram’s developers are planning to launch Threads as a sister app to Instagram similar to the DM (direct messages) app. Threads will “invite users to automatically share their location, speed, and battery life”. The only users that Threads is going to target are those that are marked as “close friends” on Instagram.

According to the Verge, Threads is up and running but it’s not ready to launch just yet. The app is currently being tested internally at Instagram headquarters and once the alpha testing is successful, then we might see some beta invites.

Constant, Automatic Sharing

The new app is going to focus on constant, automatic sharing between users and people that they have marked as “close friends on Instagram. Users will get the option to automatically share files and they can opt-in or out if they wish.

Furthermore, Threads is also going to provide users with private information such as status, location, speed and more. Although, we do need to mention that Threads is not actually going to show the real-location of the user and instead it will display a status such as “on the move”.

Final Words

It’s difficult to give a conclusion on Threads since there isn’t that much information about it online. However, we can be sure that the app is going to offer a premium user experience since this is Instagram that we are talking about after all.
