Even though Instagram is still a few million users behind Facebook, there is no doubt that Instagram will surely surpass Facebook in the upcoming future. Facebook has had one too many data leak scandals and people are not that willing to share their private information, photos and location status on Facebook anymore.

Not just that, but Instagram is also a great platform for people who want to keep their information private because they can choose to create a private account and only let their real-life friends follow them.

Instagram is Cracking Down on Bots

On the downside of things, Instagram has a big problem with bots. For those who are unfamiliar with this, bots are used to create fake accounts so that personalities such as social media influencers can get a bigger follower number so that they can get sponsored by companies who are looking to sell their product to a larger audience.

Luckily, the developers who are in charge of Instagram have made it their top priority to get rid of all fake accounts, fake follower numbers and fake likes so that Instagram can offer genuine human interactions.

Instagram Speaks Out

“Every day people come to Instagram to have real experiences, including genuine interactions. It is our responsibility to ensure these experiences aren’t disrupted by inauthentic activity” said Instagram on its blog post.

New Update

Nonetheless, Instagram is now going to receive a new update that utilizes the company’s AI-powered software which can track bots and fake accounts. Therefore, Instagram will be able to get rid off all fake accounts that the AI software can identify starting today.

“These new measures will be ongoing, and accounts that continue to use third-party apps to grow their audience may see their Instagram experience impacted. Today’s update is just another step in keeping Instagram a vibrant community where people connect and share in authentic ways. We’ll have more updates in the coming weeks on additional measures we’re taking to tackle inauthentic activity on Instagram” added the company.
