Pokemon Go is an amazing mobile game that utilizes the innovative AR (augmented reality) technology in order to give players the chance to live out their childhood dreams of traveling the world and catching rare Pokemon. Even though the mobile game is equipped with lots of fun features, there is one that players have been asking for a long time and Niantic Labs has yet to deliver. We are talking about support for online battle mode and fortunately, the Pokemon Go developer has announced that this feature is going to arrive sooner than expected.

Online Battle Mode

Niantic Labs announced earlier this morning that Pokemon Go is going to receive support for online battle mode in 2020. This is amazing news for fans of the mobile game because according to the announcement from Niantic Labs, the GO Battle League will build upon Trainer Battles. For those who are out of the loop, Trainer Battles are the current PvP (player vs player) mode that Pokemon Go features.

Niantic Labs Speaks Out

“Like many Pokémon GO features, GO Battle League will encourage players to get out and explore the world with Pokémon. Trainers will be able to walk in order to earn entry into the GO Battle League, then battle opponents from around the globe through an online matching system and rise in the ranks of the league. We hope this feature will make the Pokémon GO battling experience more competitive and accessible to more Trainers,” stated Niantic Labs.

Expected Release Date

The great thing about the new announcement is that the Pokemon Go developer revealed that the highly anticipated GO Battle League is coming in early 2020. Not just that, but Niantic Labs also announced that it is planning to share more details in an upcoming “Dev Insights” video that is going to launch soon.
