We reported earlier today that Samsung is already making plans to launch Galaxy Fold 2 in the first quarter of 2020, but this is not the only “headline-worthy” thing that the South Korean based tech giant did today. Samsung had big ambitions for phone-based payments since 2015 when it released the Samsung Pay digital wallet.
The digital wallet has been improved during this past couple of years with Samsung Pay Cash and Money Transfer but now, Samsung has decided to take things to the next level and focus on the mobile point of sale.
Samsung POS is Now Accepting Mobile Payments
As previously mentioned, Samsung is now focusing on the mobile point of sale or mPOS for short and this doing this with a new “Samsung Point of Sale” system aka Samsung POS. The latter feature is now accepting mobile payments and merchants need to go to the Galaxy Store or to the Google Play Store in order to download and install the Samsung POS app which is called “Samsung Pay Touch” in the URL.
Merchants will now need to complete their registration and after this is complete, they can go ahead and start accepting debit and credit payments on their NFC-enabled Samsung mobile device. Samsung POS will support sources such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and many other contactless cards.
Changing the World
From the looks of it, Samsung’s new POS app is going to change the world and make it that much easier for people to perform money transfers. The app has been released on October 15 2019 one a worldwide scale, but on the downsides of things, the app is not available in the US.
The last thing that we want to mention is that Samsung is obviously using the latest security features for Samsung POS since the app is dealing with people’s money and this is why the security is provided and handled by Samsung Knox.
