Microsoft announced that it’s hosting a big event tomorrow in New York City and that it plans to reveal a bunch of new devices during the event, including a revamped version of the 2017 Surface Pro alongside an enhanced model of the Surface Book 2. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait until tomorrow in order to get an idea of what to expect from Microsoft’s next-generation Surface devices because a recent leak shows us everything we need to know.

The Bad News

As previously mentioned, Microsoft is getting ready to launch an all-new Surface Pro. While this might get people excited about the Microsoft event, a new leak revealed some bad news for people who are interesting in buying a new Surface Pro. The leak comes from WinFuture and it confirms that the next-generation Surface devices will not feature any USB-C ports.

The fact that Microsoft is not equipping its new devices with USB-C ports is disappointing, especially when considering that Microsoft’s competition has already implemented USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 compatibility support. In addition, rumor has it that Microsoft is instead going to stick with the basic USB-A ports.

The Good News

On the bright side of things, the leak from WinFuture did mention that the entry-level Surface Laptop 2 will receive a boost in hardware power. The device is going to be fueled by Intel’s Core i5-8250U quad-core processor that runs at 1.6GHz and can boost up to 3.6GHz in Turbo Boost mode.

Another important piece of information that we need to mention is that Surface Laptop 2’s new CPU will be paired with 8GB of RAM. This is great news for Microsoft fans because the previous model was equipped with only 4GB of RAM, and that amount of RAM just isn’t it enough.
