Technology is not going to last forever due to technical problems and people who use Roku streaming devices are being affected by this. Multiple reports are showing that Roku users have received a new notification from the system that is informing them that Netflix is no longer going to be supported starting December 1st, 2019. This is bad news for Roku users because Netflix is one of the world’s biggest video streaming platforms and they will not be able to access exclusive content such as Stranger Things and Westworld for example.
Netflix Will No Longer Work On Roku
“Due to technical limitations, Netflix will no longer be available on this device after December 1st, 2019,” said the notification. We also to note that Netflix has shared this information on its official Help Center by making the following statement: “Please visit netflix.com for a list of available devices”. However, Netflix has yet to list the specific devices.
We did some digging and found out which are the Roku devices that will no longer support Netflix, here they are: Roku 2050X, Roku 2100X, Roku 2000C, Roku HD Player, Roku SD Player, Roku XR Player and Roku SD Player.
What’s Next for Roku?
From the looks of it, the Roku streaming devices are being outpaced by the technology that video streaming platforms are implementing. It’s only a matter of time until the aforementioned Roku devices will not be able to support HBO GO, Amazon Prime and so on.
On the bright side of things, Roku’s latest lineup of streaming devices don’t have any technical limitations and their prices start $29,99. Therefore, Roku streaming devices are still going to be popular for the years to come and Roku will keep launching new products that will keep up with the latest technology advancements in the streaming world.
