Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL Camera Bug Displays “Fatal Error”

The last time that Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL made headlines was one week ago when Google rolled out a new update that introduced a bunch of camera improvements. The update also shipped with a new feature called “Night Sight” that made it possible for Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL to snap incredible pictures in low-light environments. Unfortunately, it looks like a large number of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners can’t access their camera anymore because of a software bug.

Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL Camera Error

The Google Pixel Reddit community is filled with complaints from Android fans who are saying they can’t access the camera app anymore. For some unknown reason, the camera app for Google’s latest smartphones displays the following text whenever users try to open it “This camera driver encountered a fatal error”.

To make things even worse, this error also appears when Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners try to use the camera app through third-party apps such as Instagram, Facebook Messenger and Snapchat.

There is No Fix

People from the Reddit community have tried fixing the error by themselves, but to no avail. They tried rebooting the smartphone, clearing the app cache and even performing a full factory reset. Sadly, none of these methods worked and the camera app is still displaying the same fatal error over and over.

Google Has Yet to Respond

From the looks of it, this error is going to disappear once Google releases an OTA (over the air) update that introduces a bug fix for it. Although, Google has yet to release a response to this issue and this is worrying fans. However, we believe that Google is aware of the camera issue and it’s working on a software fix right now because Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL represent the company’s flagships and they need to offer a premium user experience.
