Square Enix is Working On Its Own Gaming Subscription Service

Square Enix is a beloved game publisher with many popular franchises under its belt. In fact, Square Enix announced earlier this week that it has started working on creating the much-anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake and that the game will launch on March 3rd, 2020.

However, it looks like the Final Fantasy VII Remake is not the only thing that Square Enix is working on. The reason why we are saying this is because the game publisher has recently confirmed that it plans to create a subscription service that will include all its games.

Gaming Subscription Service

Microsoft made it loud and clear during E3 that gaming subscription services are its focus and from the looks of it, Square Enix has taken notice to that. Square Enix wants to release a subscription service that will work similarly to Microsoft’s Game Pass. This information was confirmed directly by Yosuke Matsuda who is the Company President and CEO of Square Enix.

Square Enix CEO Speaks Out

“We’re working on a digital release of its whole library in a variety of ways. That is a request that we hear often. As far as our major titles go, most of those, we still have variations out that you can play now. The more classic titles that you might have played on NES, we are still working hard to make it so you can play those,” said Yosuke Matsuda.

We actually have launched a dedicated project internally to port those, so we are working to make them available on a variety of platforms. Certainly down the road, we would like to see that on a subscription or streaming service, so we’re exploring the possibility of creating a dedicated channel for ourselves,” added the Square Enix CEO.

Wrapping Things Up…

The CEO and Company President of Square Enix is not ready to announce when we should expect the new subscription service to launch, but he at least confirmed to us that it may come during the upcoming future.
