All Overwatch players who join Contender teams need to use their full name and this is why everyone started getting skeptical when a player simply named Ellie joined the team Second Wind. Ellie is really good at the game and people wanted to find out more about her.

However, it turns out that Ellie is not who she says she is and that the pro player is actually an imposter who was using this name for a social experiment. After rumors of Ellie being an imposter have been circulating all Overwatch forums for this past couple of weeks, the management of Second Wind has decided to reveal the secret behind Ellie’s identity.

Second Wind Speaks Out About Ellie

“When we originally onboarded Ellie, we had just recently lost players for various reasons and we desperately needed to find a substitute. As a team, we have always had faith in the leaderboard when it comes to scouting for players, and in our search for a new player we found Ellie as rank 4 in the North American servers,” said Second Wind.

“As of today, Blizzard had gotten back to us on the background of Ellie, and notified us that they were not who they claimed to be, and discovered that the Ellie account was used for purposes we do not support. We apologize to the community as a whole for not handling this situation better when we should have, and we will aim to do better,” added Second Wind in a TwitLonger post.

Twitch Streamer Reveals Ellie’s Identity

Even though Second Wind doesn’t say who Ellie really is, the Cloud9 Twitch streamer Becca “Aspen” Rukavina has a pretty good idea who the person behind the Ellie account really is. The Cloud9 Twitch streamed said that Ellie is a social experiment that is created by the top 500 Overwatch player known as Punisher.

What’s interesting about this is that Becca “Aspen” Rukavina also managed to get Punisher on one of her streams to try and prove that he is not Ellie, but he failed to do this. Unfortunately, the stream footage was taken down for obvious reasons.
